“Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.” —Abigail Adams

Each Child Counts Foundation was founded in 1998 in response to the suffering of children in civil war-ravaged Liberia, West Africa.  We remain deeply committed to the welfare of these children whose growth has been stunted by war and disease and, to providing service opportunities to children and others who want to help.

Although we have sponsored many projects over the years, our focus for the last decade has been on the children of Clay Ashland in Montserrado County, Liberia.

The literacy rate is below 50% in the area. With the amazing support of our school builder community, in 2018, we opened the Rev. James A. Webster wing of the Rev. Dr. Claude E. Wilson Academy.   We currently provide free education, meals, school supplies and uniforms to 163 Pre-K through 8th grade students.  We have begun construction and plan to complete the high school wing by 2025.

Caring for little lives.

01
We work for those who cannot work for themselves.
We are excited to be working on several projects to make life easier for our students. These projects are both ongoing educational and school growth in nature. Our education focused projects are designed to provide the day-to-day materials that our students use but are depleted on a regular basis and need continuous replenishment. School growth projects are those that will assist in the long-term vision of our school. This vision entails making sure that our children have learning platforms, technology and spaces that will give them the best chance at educational success

The elementary and junior high classrooms were completed in 2023. We are working to complete the high school in late 2024.
03
We have a growing sports program in soccer for both girls and boys. We need equipment, uniforms and coaching support to move to the next level.
04
We are thankful to have a stable team of committed staff members. We provide ongoing educational support. Our goal is to help each of our teaching staff to reach the highest certification level.
05
We provide a free lunch program for all of our students. Since most of our students walk several miles to and from school this ensures that they have at least one hot meal a day.
